How to determine the age of a beech?
Beech trees are one of the trees that can grow quite old, even if they are not as enduring as oak trees for a long time. However, the trees usually do not reach such a high age when cared for in the garden. In old parks or dense beech forests but also very old specimens can be found.

The age of a book is determined by two dates, the trunk circumference and the location. For very old beech trees, there is a third point, namely the historical tradition.
The trunk circumference is measured in about one meter height and recorded in centimeters. For a beech with a trunk circumference of 100 centimeters, the age is estimated at about 55 years. At 150 centimeters, the beech is about 80 years old.
If you want to calculate the age of a book yourself, measure the trunk circumference and multiply it by 0.6. For even more accurate results, measure the trunk circumference twice, at 1 m and 1 m. From both measurements, the mean value is formed.
