In its subtropical, South American homeland, of course, it gets much more light and warmth than ours and is instead subject to four seasons only the change between dry and rainy seasons. You have to have a little patience with her already.

When you bring your bougainvillea out of the winter quarters, it usually does not look very good: dry, leafless and powerless. And it may well be that for a long time nothing will do and you wait in vain for a willing, powerful flare-up.
Mostly the bougainvillea simply lacks heat and light. She can not get enough of that. Whatever may be, the winter quarters were too dark. Then the plant just needs a bit longer to get back to its vitality. Also check the pot size: is the root ball maybe too cramped? This can of course paralyze the shootout.

Check if the site offers full light and heat output. If necessary, try a different, lighter location and a little more heating. Under no circumstances should you water more - the Bougainvillea can not have waterlogging, especially in the weak initial vegetation phase. If you find that the pot is actually too tight, repot the plant and enrich the substrate with nutrients such as cornmeal. Even a universal liquid fertilizer can cause a growth spurt.
If all else fails, check if they are still wet under the bark (scoring) - in the worst case, the plant may also be dead.
