Beans from the own garden - So the sowing works
Beans are a delicious, vitamin-rich vegetable. But before the enjoyment comes the cultivation and begins with the sowing. The easiest way to sow beans is direct sowing in the garden. This is done every year, as beans are annuals with the exception of carefully winterized firebeans.
Direct sowing in the bed
Begin sowing the beans starting in mid-May, when the ice saints are over. Then the soil temperature should have warmed up to the necessary 10 degrees Celsius.
Since beans only need about 100 days to maturity, you can sow until July. Spiked or grown one after the other, you benefit from a long bean harvest.
Before sowing you loosen the soil of the bean-bed well again.
With two sticks and a string you mark each one row for the sowing. If you build several rows of beans, the distance between the rows should be about 80 cm.
Within the rows, the beans are mainly put in clumps. This is especially true for runner beans and fire beans. You can sow bush beans along the rows both in clumps and individually.

Advance through soaking and pre-germination
You can achieve faster germination of the seeds by macerating the hard peel of the beans in water for 24 hours before sowing.
It is also possible pre-germination of the beans on the windowsill. For this, the seeds are sown in small pots, placed in a warm place and planted in the garden after the ice saints.
Tips
With small garden plugs, the bean sowing can be well marked: Simply write the bean type on the label and put it at the beginning of the line.
