Are the fruits of the bluebell tree edible?
With its beautiful flowers in the spring and the strikingly large leaves thereafter, the bluebell tree (bot. Paulownia) is an extraordinary plant. The capsule-shaped fruits, however, are rather inconspicuous, but often remain hanging on the tree until winter.
The fruits and seeds of paulownia are considered inedible to slightly toxic. Nevertheless, due to their simplicity, they are at most a small hazard.
The bean-like pods of the Blauregens have a much more seductive effect on children and are also much more toxic. Not only edible, but very tasty are the leaves of the bluebell tree. They can be used in the kitchen similar to spinach and also serve as animal feed.
