Pear tree as a half-stem - what is this growth form suitable for?
Pear trees are commercially available as bush form, half stem or high stem. In the choice of pasen growth form, the ease of care plays an important role in addition to the garden size.
The different growth forms
Difference between half-stem and high-stem
The difference between the growth forms is the length of the stem. It is measured from Baumscheibe to the crown approach.

When fungal infestation often the whole tree must be felled. In a high-stem tree, infested areas can be cut out without damaging the tree too much.
Semi-stem and low-stemmed trees are not so thick branches and trunks that the diseased tree parts can be easily removed. In the worst case, the pear tree must be felled.
Tips & Tricks
Choose half-stemmed pear trees if you want to plant a meadow orchard. You can mow the grass well and tree care is easier than with bushy forms or high-stem trees.
