Sowing eggplants - Tips for sowing
So far, you have not expected to plant eggplants yourself? Sowing is not nearly as difficult as you think. A greenhouse for growing is an advantage, but it also succeeds on the windowsill to prefer the heat-loving fruits.
Eggplants need consistent temperatures
The fruits come from the Mediterranean area. The germ temperatures must therefore be high. Eggplant does not tolerate temperature changes during germination.
Pulling on the windowsill
Fill a culture dish or a miniature greenhouse with growing substrate. The soil is well moistened and the seed is thinly seeded. Then it is covered with a thin layer of substrate.
Place a cover over the culture container or use transparent foil. The film keeps the temperature constant and prevents it from drying out.
Place the culture containers in a light, 25-degree temperature. Not directly above the heater, but rather place next to it.
Tips in a nutshell:
After germination, place a little cooler
Every second day the film is aired. After sowing the seed, the cover is completely removed.
Transplant into pots
Once the plants have grown 15 centimeters, they are placed in slightly larger individual pots. The planting of aubergines in the field takes place from the end of May.
Preferring in the greenhouse
In the greenhouse, a foil cover is not necessary. Regular spraying of the seed trays ensures sufficient moisture.
Tips & Tricks
If no miniature greenhouse is available, the eggplants can also be preferred in small pots. The finished pots are simply placed in freezer bags to maintain the temperature. This saves the laborious petting of eggplants and facilitates the planting outdoors.
