Few varieties are sensitive to frost
Most aster species are sufficiently hardy - often even down to -45 ° C in protected locations. However, some specimens such as chrysanthemums, which also belong to the asters, are more sensitive and should therefore be provided in the field in the late autumn in the root area with a protective layer.

As winter protection for asters, for example, the following materials are suitable when applied in a thick layer over the root area:

Is your aster in the pot, for example, on the balcony or terrace? Then you should not put them in the warm house in winter. As a location for the winter time is a protected house wall. In addition, it is recommended to surround the root area / pot with a jute sack or fleece.
If the aster is protected from rain, it has to be watered occasionally. The emphasis is on easy. Only water so much that the soil does not dry out, but remains fresh. You should completely dispense with fertilizer. In spring simply cut down the old plant parts.
Tips
