Grow a pineapple plant yourself - that's how the experiment succeeds
When the garden is still resting in late winter, restless hobby gardeners dedicate their energy to growing plants in the house. With a pineapple plant, the action gets exotic flair. We show how the exciting experiment succeeds.
Armor and preparatory work
The linchpin for a successful course is a ripe pineapple, which presents itself with a rich green leafy head. The investment in a high-quality pineapple is worthwhile, because these fruits are fully harvested and not exposed to low temperatures for storage. In addition, you need a nutrient-poor substrate, a glass of water, a plastic bag and a sharp knife. This is how it continues:
Under the pulp you can see small protrusions on the stem. These are junior points from which the roots are to be lured out. This still wet area comes to dry for a few hours on the heater. Next, fill a jar of lime-free water to insert the leaf crown. The water must not reach to the leaves.
How to properly plant a rooted leaf
Every day you can watch small, delicate rhizomes thrive. From a length of 8-10 centimeters, these are planted in substrate. That is how it goes:
In the partially shaded, warm window seat, the pineapple plant is busy cultivating the roots. The most important requirement is a constant temperature of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. If a fresh leaf leaves the leaf rosette, the plastic cap is removed. Pamper the young pineapple plant regularly with a spray of lime-free water. Set up humidifier or fill the coaster with pebbles and water.
Tips & Tricks
Avoid administering the irrigation water to the leaf rosette of a pineapple plant. In contrast to other bromeliads it does not tolerate stagnant water very badly.
