Aloe vera is very undemanding
Aloe vera hardly needs fertilizer
Aloe vera, which is regularly repotted to fresh soil, does not require any further fertilizer for healthy growth. In summer, the outdoor plants can be fertilized sparingly with universal fertilizer every four weeks.
The vigorous leaf succulents is about 40-50 cm high. In her blue-green-colored fleshy smooth leaves she stores water, so she does not mind the prolonged drought. The 30 to 60 cm long, thorny leaves on the edge have it all: they contain the precious gel that makes the aloe vera so popular as a medicinal plant.
Easy care aloe vera
The real aloe needs no special substrate and no elaborate care. Only a sufficiently bright location on the south windowsill or in the winter garden is important for the good growth. Efficient pouring from below and good drainage in the pot are also essential. If your plant gets brown spots on the leaves, they can be a sign of the lack of nutrients. In this case, a targeted fertilizer application is recommended.
Fertilize in the summer
It does your aloe vera good if it can move in early June in the garden or on the balcony. There, too, the heat-loving plant prefers a sunny spot. In midsummer, depending on the weather, it can be poured every third day and fertilized every two to four weeks. A special fertilizer for succulents is a good choice. The undemanding aloe vera is content but also with a universal fertilizer.
Fertilizing during hibernation
The frost-sensitive aloe vera should move back into the house in the course of September. During and after hibernation please note the following:
Tips
The newly implanted cuttings or offshoots should not be fertilized before they have fully developed their root system.
