Raw potatoes are not in the food bowl for dogs
Leftovers are often used as dog food. If they contain boiled potatoes, that's fine. But beware of raw or even green potatoes - their consumption can lead to poisoning in dogs and many other animals.
Why are potatoes toxic to dogs?
The Solanin contained in potatoes, an alkaloid of the nightshade family, is not only harmful to humans but also to dogs. Solanin is enriched mainly in the shell, in the germs and in green areas.
A small amount contains the pulp and after cooking hardly any remains. The consumption of peeled and cooked potatoes is therefore harmless.
