How to Maintain Your Giant Liver - Tips and Tricks
Leek is not only a tasty vegetable but as a giant garlic also a very attractive ornamental plant in the summer garden. Originally from Central and Western Asia, it also grows very well in gardens and parks here in Germany.
Plant giant hull
The Giant Lily prefers a sunny spot and a moderately nutrient-rich soil. Plant the giant hose together with steppe sage, lady's mantle or peonies, the plants fit well together. The onion needs a planting depth of about 20 centimeters. An approximately five centimeters high layer of sand at the bottom of the plant hole ensures a good drainage and a little protection against frost in winter.
Water and fertilize giant horseradish
You really only have to water your giant bellworm during prolonged drought. If the leaves begin to turn yellow in the summer, then this is not an indication of lack of water, but completely normal. Regular fertilization is recommended.
The blossom of the giant bellwether
The red to purplish-purple spherical flower of the giant bellies with up to twelve centimeters in diameter is a true splendor. It is usually in the middle of summer, because the flowering time is only in June and August. Giant Liver is perfect as a cut flower. His stems are quite strong and up to 1.50 meters long.
Cut giant hull
As soon as the giant rose begins to bloom, the leaves begin to turn yellow. Although this is not a particularly beautiful sight, you should cut off the yellow leaves in no case too early. Because now the nutrients slowly migrate from the leaves into the onion, where they are needed for the budding next spring. Incidentally, this applies to various species of ornamental onion.
By cutting too early you risk that your giant gland may not flower in the next year. If you disturb the yellowing leaves, it is better to plant some groundcover around the leek, such as low grasses, lavender, oregano or even bed roses.
