The heyday of field horsetail
Field horsetail or horsetail botanically belongs to the ferns. This group of plants does not produce flowers and therefore no seeds. It multiplies via spores, which arise in spore ears. When do the spores of the field horsetail grow?
The "heyday" of field horsetail
Fungi forms sprouts in spring, on which the brownish spores grow. After the "flowering", the sprouts retract and make room for the green shoots, which are barren.
Field horsetail can be distinguished from marsh horsetail on the brown color of the spore capsule.
The spores spread in the period from March to May.
Cutting sprouts in the garden
If you have planted horsetail in the bucket, you should cut off the sprouts with the spore capsules immediately. Thus, you can at least limit the distribution in the garden a bit.

Field horsetail belongs to the pointer plants. Where horsetail grows, the soil is compacted and the groundwater level is very high.
