Refining plums: A practical guide
For the preservation and distribution of this delicious fruit tree, young trees are refined. After a short time you will enjoy juicy fruits. In this article you will learn how to do this in a few simple steps.
preparation
Cut in February in favorable weather Edelreisig. For frost-free soil, cut annual shoots. You will need about two to three per plum tree. These store until the beginning of May in a cool basement or hanging in a deep well. To do this, take about 10 to 15 centimeters deep in sand.

Refining in late spring
On a dry and sunny day, refine your tree directly under the bark. This method is one of the easiest and brings good results.
In the first step you drop the crown of the plum tree. A higher, central branch is shortened for this purpose above. Subsequently, a targeted cut takes place at the desired location. Then round off the edges with a sharp knife.
Tip:
Select this leader already during the fall season. Neighboring branches are blended much shorter. Thus, these do not hinder during the spring growth.
Point the scion at the bottom. For this, the tree bark is scraped off about two to three centimeters. The remaining engine needs about two to four eyes. Ideally, these are already a little swollen.

At the tree they loosen a little bark in two to three places. In each case a shoot is inserted into the opening. They should close tightly with the bark crevices. So neither air nor water reaches the finishing points.
Fix the shoots
Using bast, wrap the trunk tightly. Then seal the wounds waterproof with tree wax. Within 8 to 10 weeks, the shoots grow. The bandage cut up.
