The time has come, the first zucchini are ripe. Between June and October, the zucchini plant bears fruit in abundance. Even when the first fruits are eaten, the plant carries on - until the first frost.

After six to eight weeks, the first fruits are ripe. When you start harvesting, when the fruits have reached a size of 15 - 20 cm, then the zucchini tastes best. For a rich harvest, it is important that you harvest the ripe fruits quickly. Then the plant can always develop new flowers and fruits. The longer the fruits remain on the plant, the lower the yield.
Where to go with all the fruits?
For about two weeks, the fresh zucchini are preserved. Fruits that are not consumed directly can be preserved by drying and loading. Freezing is only recommended for varieties like "Golden Rush F1".
Tips & Tricks
For the zucchini harvest you only need a sharp knife, with which you cut off the fruit. If you leave a 5 cm long stalk on the fruit, the shelf life of the zucchini increases by a few days.
