Imposing, with lush green foliage and up to a meter high or even higher: The Zamioculcas zamiifolia, also referred to as a lucky spring or cardboard palm, is an attractive and popular houseplant. The stalky stalks with their powerful pinnate leaves grow upright straight out of a fleshy, thick rhizome. The plant can be very large and just as extensive in good conditions and appropriate care - a pruning is, however, not recommended in this case.

In short: Cutting the Zamioculcas is not necessary. As soon as the plant gets too big and threatens to burst its pot, repast them and divide them into several single plants. You just have to make sure that the different rhizome pieces each have at least one vigorous shoot. After repotting, the freshly divided plants will be quickly repelled. Even if a leaf dies, trimming is basically superfluous. Just wait for the plant to extract all the nutrients from it, then you can just pull it out.
When cutting is still useful
But sometimes it can happen that a cut makes sense. Be sure to reach for a pair of scissors or a sharp knife
Cut off the affected stems directly above the ground and be sure to use clean and sharp tools. Give preference to a knife because the stems can be squeezed by using a pair of scissors. Usually, such a cut of the plant does not matter, it is constantly new from - but not from the truncated stump, this simply stops.
Simply tie up very long petioles
If the stems of a Zamioculcas are very long, there is a risk of kinking or the stems just hang down unpleasantly. In this case, you can simply bind the petioles together with a piece of raffia or the like.

Incidentally, you should not cut leaf cuttings, but pluck them instead - then they will root better. You further increase your chances of success by dipping the rooting site into a rooting powder before planting.
