Thuja does not like it too dry or too wet. In the first few years, you have to water a tree-hedge regularly, later, when it is very dry outside.
Fertilize with organic fertilizers such as compost, horn shavings or manure. Use mineral fertilizer, follow the instructions carefully. When fertilizing trees of life is less often more!
Fight diseases and pests
If the brown needles or shoots have been triggered by a disease or pest infestation, cut off any affected parts. Dispose of the leftovers in the household waste and not in the compost.
Provide the thuja hedge with soil activator after a disease. This strengthens the Thujen and survive diseases better.
Always use clean tools for cutting so that you do not transmit diseases or pests. Clean the scissors carefully after use.
Tips
In autumn many Thujen become brown and dry inside. Many needles then simply fall off. This is a natural process and not a cause for concern.
