Which fungal diseases occur in Thuja?

Fungal diseases of the Thuja
Four species of fungus attack the Thuja:
dieback
The instinctual death is triggered by Pestalotiopsis funerea. Symptoms of infestation are the brown discoloration of the tip, which slowly spreads to the whole shoot. Later, black spots form, the shoot dries up and dies.
Needle and scale tan
Didymascella thujina and Kabatina thujae cause a browning of the needles and scales, with Kabatina thujae mainly affecting young leaves and spikes. First, the symptoms of infestation by small spots on needles and dandruff. They continue to spread and lead to the death of the whole shoot.
Thuja dying
Armillaria mellea is responsible for the dreaded thuja death. This fungus shows through a white mesh, which can be found between bark and wood. The Thuja dies after an infestation very quickly and is beyond saving.
What to do in case of fungal attack of the Thuja?
With a slight fungal attack, which is detected in time, it helps to cut off the affected shoots generously and dispose of it with household waste.
If the tree hedge suffers from Armillaria mellea, you can try to fight the fungus with a fungicide. This is administered on the packaging as directed. A fight is only successful if the fungal infection is detected in the initial stage.
Prevention of fungal attack of the Thuja hedge
Fungal spores are especially fond of moisture on the tree of life. So please water in the morning so that the thuja can dry during the day. Avoid wet leaves and stem.
To improve air circulation in the hedge, occasionally clear the trees carefully. Cut out dry and crosswise branches.
