Cut cranesbill "Rozanne" vigorously
Probably the Cranesbill hybrid "Rozanne" is one of the most beautiful varieties of geranium. The plant, which grows only up to 40 centimeters high, produces a wealth of magnificent, bright violet-blue flowers, which reliably and persistently delight the eye from May to November.So that you too can look forward to the longest possible flowering period, you should regularly cut back the withered shoots.
Cut back the "Rozanne" in late autumn
However, "Rozanne" is not only very floriferous, but also very vigorous. The up to 150 centimeters long shoots easily climb smaller trees such as shrub roses. For this reason, you should give this cranesbill variety as much space as possible, as it can be planted too close to the vicinity of other perennials. For the same reason you should shorten "Rozanne" regularly, so that it does not overgrow your garden. In late autumn, after the last flowering, finally a pruning takes place down to just above the ground. This cut allows the more relaxed Rozanne to develop a denser and more compact growth.
"Rozanne" as groundcover
If the long shoots are supported by "Rozanne", the plant also grows skyward. However, it tends to fall apart quickly in this growth form. On the other hand, "Rozanne" is much better suited as a ground cover, which feels very well in sunny to partially shaded locations and there soon covers larger areas.

Although "Rozanne" naturally has a fairly long flowering period, which can be extended by the regular removal of faded shoots. For this purpose, simply cut away the corresponding stems, the resulting bald spots will close quickly. The pruning is also useful to stimulate the plant again and again to a denser growth.
Tips
In contrast to other cranesbill species, "Rozanne" has proven to be only partially winterized and should therefore be covered after the autumn pruning with a loose frost protection from spruce branches.
