The onion is planted in autumn and spring. It depends on the variety. If you plant winter onion, you can start harvesting early in the year. The summer onions provide the rest of the year for replenishment.
The first winter onions are set at the end of August, the last ones shortly before the first frost. They remain in the soil over the winter and are already harvested at the end of May. The summer onions are set in the soil from March to April.
