In the field compost is sufficient
Fertilization is the aspect of care in which the Skimmie is frugal. From April to September (its main growing season) it can be fed with fertilizer such as compost every 4 to 8 weeks. The compost is enough for her.
It is even easier to provide the Skimmie with a mulch layer, for example, grass clippings or bark. The mulch slowly releases its contained nutrients and casting is less needed due to the better storage of moisture.

Fertilize Skimmie in the pot

If you keep your Skimmie in a pot and repot it in the spring, you should take care not to add fertilizer after repotting. The new soil (eg moorland, rhododendron earth) usually contains enough nutrients.
More nutrients could overtax the Skimmie and lead among others to yellow leaves. The repotting is useful every 2 years for the slow-growing Skimmie.
Tips
If you want to buy a fertilizer for Skimmia, there is no point in choosing a specially designated rhododendron fertilizer. Skimmies and rhododendrons have the same requirements.
