Is gypsophila hardy?
High Gypsophila, Gypsophila paniculata, is hardy, as are the small-seeded varieties grown from it. However, it is very sensitive to moisture, even in winter. Therefore, protection against too much water is more important than cold protection.

Gypsophila in the bed usually needs no protection from the cold. Nevertheless, it makes sense to cover the plants generously. There are two reasons for this. A thick layer of brushwood or leaves does not just protect you from too much rain. It also largely prevents wild rabbits from using their plants as winter foods. Because although gypsophila is considered slightly toxic, it is like nonsmoking.
Gypsophila does not like it moist, because that easily leads to root rot. Therefore, you are welcome to give up these plants in the winter in the winter. Normally, precipitation is more than sufficient during this time. If the location is generally very humid then you should transplant your gypsophila.
