So many passionate hobby gardeners, it is not enough just to plant roses in the garden and cultivate devotional, he would like to breed beautiful roses and maybe - with a little luck - create their own varieties. Growing roses is a nice and challenging hobby, but it takes some basic skills: you need to know how to cross roses.
Creating your own rose varieties by crossing
Anyone who reproduces roses by vegetative propagation or refining does not create new varieties, but only clones of the mother plant. Those who want to breed their own new varieties of roses must do so through the path of seed multiplication. But for that you need a good bit of luck, because from rose seeds with very different ancestors (many of whom may not even be known) everything can come out - but maybe not necessarily the desired result. For this reason, it is advisable to keep a studbook - if you do the pollination yourself and do not want to leave everything to chance. By the way: Seeds are not only cultivated, but often also the original wild roses. The rose breeding is and remains a very exciting hobby!
How does the cruising work?
Every rose flower is hermaphrodite, d. H. she owns both male and female organs. In order for rose hips to develop into seeds, these flowers must be pollinated by another rose. This can either be done by the breeder's hand or left to nature by planting different varieties of roses in a bed and waiting to see what happens. The corresponding offspring are then reared and - if they have desirable features - further selected and crossed with each other. It is important to stop using roses with undesirable properties for breeding.
Which roses are suitable for cruising?
Not every type of rose or species is suitable for crucifixion, because some particularly noble cultivated rose is completely sterile and can only be obtained by vegetative propagation. Other varieties - especially those with heavily filled flowers - have very stunted sex organs, so that the pollination is difficult to impossible here, too. Still other roses produce little or no rose hips.

If you have now found parent roses that produce ripe rosehips with seeds in them, you can dust them by hand. This should be done with flowers that are just beginning to open and where it is thus ensured that no pollination by bees etc. has taken place. Take the procedure in the early morning to forestall busy insects.
Tips
In autumn, collect the ripe rose hips to use to harvest the seeds. The seeds are sown and then it is time to wait and hope for the best. However, not all rosehips produce germinable seeds.
