The rhododendrons grow well and thrive
Whether rhododendron planting time in autumn or spring - rhododendron is planted in the following steps: first carefully loosen any bale or wire mesh, but do not remove it! Dip rhododendron in water for 5 minutes to allow the root ball to fully absorb.
Step 1 - Rhododendron preparation and planting
Dig the planting pit with the spade up to three times the size of the root ball. In case of poorly permeable soil layers, avoid damaging moisture under the bale through gravel drainage. Now mix the excavated soil in the same ratio with moist, light-colored peat and some sand.
Insert rhododendron centered with the bale only 3 cm lower than in the grow. No more!
Lower insertion results in air deficiency and inhibits root regeneration. Then carefully spread the soil around the bale and hit it lightly. Pull a casting edge with the remaining excavation - especially important on slopes.
Step 2 - Rhododendron care after planting
Pay particular attention to sufficient soil moisture after planting. And thorough casting - about 8-12 liters per rhododendron. Water weekly in dry weather. Important: uniform soil moisture, no waterlogging.
