Problems with too dense grass
The lawn is too dense! With this statement, you make lawn lovers ponder, but for most is rather the opposite. Nevertheless, it can happen that the lawn is actually too dense. What you can do about it.

At first, the gardener is happy when the lawn gets pretty dense. But the joy does not last long when the grass plants start to dry out and die after some time.
Too dense grass prevents enough air from getting to the roots. The rain or irrigation water does not seep and accumulates on the surface.
Some gardeners also bother the very hard surface that forms a too dense lawn. Barefoot running is very uncomfortable.

Prepare the substrate and sow properly
The substrate should be very well loosened before sowing and be free from soil thickening, stones and weeds. To dense soils refine with sand and gravel and apply if necessary in addition a drainage.
Sprinkle the seeds thinly. You can later seize by hand to clear areas. If you accidentally sown too much grass seed on one spot, spread it with a rake.
For large areas, use a spreader that distributes the seed evenly.
Maintain lawn properly
With the right lawn care you ensure that the lawn is tight, but not too dense. Mow often without cutting too much. At least two inches, the glass straws should remain long.
Do not blast so often, but vigorously. Once a week, at most every four days, a lawn must be watered.
Scarify the lawn in spring and autumn. If the soil is very dense, it may also help to aerate the area occasionally with an aerator.

A feature of too dense turf is the growth of plantain. This weed is so robust that it can colonize even very compacted areas.
