Mimosa is undoubtedly one of the interesting indoor plants. They are far from being as sensitive as the name suggests. However, this does not affect the leaf of the mimosa, which folds up when touched mechanically.
Leaves of mimosa fold together when touched
Not only the spherical flowers of mimosa exert a special charm on many garden lovers. The leaf also looks very decorative because of its fiery appearance. It also has the peculiarity of folding in the event of mechanical contact or heat.
Touch a leaf, often uses a chain reaction. First, the leaf touched, followed by all other leaves. They remain in this position for about half an hour. Then they unfold again. The same thing happens when you approach the sheet with a burning match or lighter.
If the ambient temperatures are below 18 degrees, the leaves no longer respond to the touch stimulus.

The process of folding robs the mimosa of a lot of power. There are mimosa species that recover very badly from the effort of folding and unfolding. They should therefore touch the leaves as little as possible and not expose them more often to the heat effects of lighter or match.

Sometimes the leaves of the mimosa turn yellow. This is an indication of jaundice. It is triggered by too much wetness. Keep the plant drier.
If there are small webs on the leaves, the mimosa is affected by spider mites. An immediate fight is necessary.
Tips
Mimosas love to be cared for outdoors in summer. You should provide for a sheltered place. Direct midday sun does not tolerate the mimosa well.
