Why balcony boxes are not suitable for breeding
Anyone who comes up with the idea of simply sprinkling dandelion seeds into the balcony box should not be surprised if nothing turns into breeding. The plants will probably sprout, but will soon be absorbed. The reason: The dandelion needs a deep underground. It forms a long and strong taproot.
Therefore, you should rather plant the dandelion in a deep pot or sow - or in the field, for example, in the front garden or in front of the terrace. If you choose a pot, it should be at least 10 cm in diameter and at least 25 cm deep.
Which location does the dandelion need?
For successful breeding, a paser site is required. Dandelion does not grow in the shade. The weed needs a sunny to at worst partially shaded location in order to grow well. It does not value a sheltered location - it's pretty sturdy.
Remove the plant from seed
Digging a plant out of nature and putting it in a pot at home is not recommended. It is easier to sow the dandelion. All you need to do is collect a few of the seeds. From March to August, the seeds can be sown.
