Lavender turns yellow - Often the leaf spot disease is cause
If the lavender gets yellow leaves with more or less large brown to black spots, the plant is infected with the dreaded leaf spot disease. This is sometimes referred to as shotgun disease, because the leaves can look like perforated.
Causes of leaf spot disease
Various fungi of the genera Septoria, Ascochyta or Alternaria cause this disease, which is noticeable by a yellowish discoloration of the leaves and reddish, brown or black spots. Like all fungal diseases, the leaf blotch spreads quickly and leads ultimately to the death of the plant. Such fungi infest especially weakened plants that are too moist, too narrow or in an inappropriate location. Especially in cold and humid summers, a fungal attack often occurs in lavender.
Prevent fungal attack
Since fighting a fungal disease is difficult, prevention is an important measure. That's why you should take lavender
avoid. By the way, the mushrooms survive even severe winters, as they simply hibernate on the plant or leave spores. These can then continue to operate in the following year and let the lavender.
Combat usually only possible by large-scale cutting away
As soon as leaves, sometimes stems, of the lavender are attacked, you should use a hedge trimmer to heal the fungus. Cut the lavender vigorously back into the healthy and unaffected parts. However, you should avoid cutting back into the wood, as the plant then usually no longer expels. Then the tool must be disinfected carefully so that any remaining spores are killed.Unless you want to harvest the plant, you can also use a broad-spectrum fungicide.

If, on the other hand, the lavender turns brown and looks as though it has dried out, root rot caused by waterlogging or incorrect casting is the cause.
