Lavender is a light germ
For many plant seeds it is relatively the same whether it is light or dark - they germinate as soon as the appropriate conditions such as heat and humidity are given. Other seeds, on the other hand, necessarily need darkness to germinate, the so-called dark germs, or light. The latter are called light germinators. The lavender is also included.
Ensure sufficient brightness
Usually, lavender is propagated through cuttings, but you can also prefer the flowering plants from February themselves from seeds. The commercially available lavender seed is mostly from the genuine lavender and is rarely sorted. This means that the lavender plantlets grown from the seeds can look very different. When sowing the lavender you must take care not to cover the fine seeds with soil or only very thinly. Lavender is a light germ and therefore needs brightness for the grains to germinate. For this reason, you need the brightest possible location for the planter or the potting pot. However, as February is usually too dark for sun-kissed Mediterranean plants, a special plant lamp can provide more brightness.

Unlike many other seeds, lavender does not need a greenhouse climate to germinate, so it's best to do without bags or plastic wrap over the pot. Lavender germinates best at temperatures of around 15 ° C.
