When does the cactus bear a flower?
In our latitudes, only a few cactus species are successfully grown in indoor culture. With proper care, the decorative cactus develops a yellow flower. Prerequisite is a longer, cooler phase in winter.
The blossom of the ball cactus
With proper care, especially in winter, the ball cactus in summer carries a yellow flower. Until then, at least three years pass. Before, no flowers show up.
The heyday of the ball cactus begins in July and can last until September.
If an older cactus does not develop flowering, you have kept it too warm in winter. The cactus must be wintered in a location where temperatures between 12 and 15 degrees prevail. In addition, the space must be as bright as possible.
Tips
The cactus can be propagated exclusively from seeds, since it does not form shoots. The breeding of seeds is relatively simple and almost always succeeds.
