Pull ginger in your own garden yourself
For about a decade, ginger has become a versatile fashion spice in our local kitchens and recipes. If you like to know the origin of your food, you can grow ginger with relatively little effort in your own garden.
Ginger rolls from the trade as starting material
Today you can find ginger fresh at most grocery stores almost all year round. As a rule, you can use the tubers offered there to pull ginger yourself. When choosing the tubers to look for freshness and possibly already existing shoots, can pay in the subsequent cultivation of your own ginger plants quite well.
Ginger as a container plant in a decorative planter
Due to its tropical origin, ginger in Germany needs a sunny and warm location without waterlogging for optimal growth. The optimal growing conditions for the cultivation of ginger can be achieved in a planter better than in the vegetable patch. Put the tubers intended for your ginger breed either in decorative planters in a sunny spot or in a raised bed such as a raised bed.
The perfect planting and harvesting season for ginger
In order for the tubers of the ginger to multiply to a profitable level for the harvest, you need not only enough water and heat but also a culture period of about 250 days. So if you let the tubers drive out around March, you can expect a harvest in about October or November.

Tips & Tricks
Often comes the question of the self pull of ginger in connection with left tubers. Do not throw them away if they show shootings. In contrast to the potatoes, ginger is not poisonous with expelling. Put the shoot into the ground with a small piece of tuber, and you can easily use the rest of the tuber.
