The hyacinth does not need winter protection
Hibernate hyacinths properly
Hyacinths are hardy and need virtually no winter protection in the field. If the plants are wintered in the house, you must provide for a resting phase. In addition, the tubers have to be stored very cold for a while.

Because hyacinths tolerate frost, you do not need to cover the onions in the bed to protect them from the cold.
Overwake hyacinths in the pot
During the winter break put the hyacinth bulb in the pot cool and dry. An unheated corridor window is well suited. To keep the tuber cold, bring it out in cold weather for several days.
Winter hyacinths as a tuber
In order for the tuber to drift next year, it needs a cold phase. Keep them in a very cool place for a few weeks. Alternatively, it also does the vegetable compartment of the refrigerator.
Tips & Tricks
Store hyacinth tubers dark, dry and as cool as possible. In some dry peat or wood wool the bulbs overwinter best.
