Collect blueberries for consumption
Fresh blueberries from the forest or your own garden are in fresh and processed form a true delicacy. When collecting fruits, also known as blueberries, a few things should be considered.
Forest blueberries and cultivated blueberries
The berry trees, which are vigilant here in sparse bog forests and in valleys, have their harvest time in midsummer over a period of several weeks, starting around the beginning of July. The cultivated blueberries grown for cultivation in the garden, on the other hand, are descended from North American varieties and, botanically, have only little in common with the wildly awake plants in the forest. While you have to bend down far enough to the forest floor to pick the blueberry berries, blueberries grow at eye level on the approximately 2.5 meter high shrubs. Forest blueberries have a particularly aromatic taste, but the fruits of the cultural blueberries are larger and juicier.
The right way to collect
For collecting blueberries in the forest the following things should be brought along:
In the bowls you should not layer too many layers of blueberries on top of each other, so that they are not excessively squeezed during transport. In particular, in extensive clearings with dense blueberry growth can be worth taking a knee pad in a good season. Since wild blueberries have a strong coloring juice, you should have a bottle of water with you. This will allow you to cleanse your fingers or cleanse fruit from potentially occurring fox tapeworm pathogens if you want to taste the blueberries directly in the forest.
The storage and processing of blueberries
Blueberries, which are also called blueberries in many regions, are not only a refreshing vitamin-rich refreshment. Since they can only be kept in the refrigerator for a few days, they can be boiled or frozen for longer periods of storage. Frozen blueberries can later be processed into delicious fruit sauces and biscuits.
Tips & Tricks
Even in the natural treatment of health problems found in the forest and garden blueberries have always been used. For example, dried blueberries should have a regulating effect on many digestive problems.
