Hanging tomatoes are great for a pot culture, especially in traffic lights or in the flower box on the balcony. Hybrid or semen-firm?
In our overview of the best varieties of hanging tomatoes, we have deliberately added only seed-resistant varieties, since they are experience far more aromatic than the common hybrid varieties. Hybrids were bred for a long time only on yield and fruit size, also bring better yields than the seed-fixed varieties, but taste not so good.
Cherry and bush tomatoes are best suited for pot culture
For a pot culture you should only select cherry or bush tomatoes, whereby you should consider the space conditions on your balcony with the small cherry tomatoes: These often develop very long shoots of at least 250 centimeters. Bottle and beef tomatoes, on the other hand, are not suitable for cultivation in a bucket.
