Faded grasses should be cut back
Cut the grasses only slightly
Even if the name suggests, the camomile (Armeria) is not a carnation. Instead, the grassy-awake perennial is one of the plumbago plants. It is also known under the name Standgrasnelke or rock carnation and thrives wonderful in heaths or rockeries. Cloves need little care, even a regular pruning is basically not necessary.
Cut back withered flowers
It makes sense, however, to cut down inflorescences regularly, as the perennial plant develops new flowers until autumn. The gardener speaks in this case also of "remounting". The plant strives to grow seeds and will therefore flower (and produce seed-bearing fruits) until it reaches its destination. The final pruning will be done in the autumn in preparation for the winter break. Further measures are not necessary because grass carnations are absolutely hardy.
Cutting cuttings in summer
In June or July you can also cut cuttings and multiply your stock of flowering shrubs - either for your own use or to give presents to friends and neighbors. And so does the propagation of cuttings in grasslands:
The cuttings will begin to beat roots after about six weeks. They recognize the timing of the young plants exorcising. Now you can remove the foil or remove the seed pots from the room greenhouse. The young grasses can finally be planted outdoors in the autumn or the following spring.
Tips
Instead, the cuttings can incidentally also pull in a cold frame.
