Can I multiply my finger shrub myself?

The finger shrub is non-toxic and easy to care for. It blooms quite reliably over several weeks and can be used in many ways. No wonder, then, if you want to have several shrubs right away. You can easily drag these yourself.

How can I multiply the finger shrub?

The simplest alternative to the propagation of a fingerstrap is the division. But your shrub should already have reached a certain size. Also very promising is an increase by cuttings. The cultivation is possible both in the field and over the winter in the house. Sowing takes a bit more time until you get a flowering plant.

Cutting and growing cuttings

Depending on where you want to grow your cuttings, the recommended time for cutting varies. If you want to grow in the field, then a cut in the (early) summer makes sense. The about 10 to 20 centimeters long cuttings cut you from the already slightly woody side shoots of your finger shrub diagonally below a bud.

For the cultivation in the house cut your cuttings only in autumn or winter. They are quite well rooted in a moist sand-peat mixture at a uniform temperature. Only when sufficient roots have formed, may a young finger shrub get out into the bed.

If you prune your finger shrub a bit more vigorously, then take a closer look at the clippings. If you find strong healthy shoots with a length of about 10 to 20 centimeters, then you may be able to use them for cuttings. The shoots should have but at least one flower bud in the lower area.
