Five good reasons to cut the thimble
The thimble is a short-lived plant that is usually biennial and rarely perennial.Still, there are several reasons for him to be cut now and then.

Thimble cut for a second floret
Between June and August the thimble will bloom. Immediately when its flowers have withered (before the seeds could develop), the flower stems should be cut off. Then next year a new flowering is expected and the thimble is perennial. The second flower is smaller, however, because it lacks the thimble force.
The flower stalks can already be cut off before withering. Then at least 2/3 of the flower buds should be open. The flower stems can be put in a vase. To keep them in, the water should be changed every 2 days. It is also advisable to shorten the stems regularly.
Thimble to prevent self-sowing cutting
Thimble spreads with pleasure even about its seeds. Who wants to prevent this, should cut back the seed stems before the capsules open and the seeds are scattered. Anyone who wants to collect and store the seeds should cut off the stems just before the seeds mature.
Tips & Tricks
Caution: Always wear gloves when handling or cutting the thimble. Even if you do not consume it, its poisonous ingredient can get on your skin and cause redness and allergic rashes. Alternatively, you should wash your hands after touching your hands.
