Why does the single leaf have brown tips?
The Einblatt or Spathiphyllum can be found in many living rooms. Originally from the humid rainforests of South America, the tropical plant is not only considered a pretty plant decoration, but is also easy to care for and thrives in darker homes. Despite its simplicity, however, this houseplant needs a minimum of nursing attention.

You can quickly tell by the color of the leaves that the leaf does not feel so comfortable. If, for example, the single-leaf suddenly gets brown leaf tips, this is usually due to the air in the room being too dry. Spathiphyllum is a rainforest plant that needs to feel comfortable around 25 ° C and a very high humidity - in their home, the South American rainforest mainly in Colombia, namely, prevail exactly these conditions.
Beware of spider mites and red spiders
However, a dry room air not only leads to dry and brown leaf tips, but often also to an infection with spider mites or the red spider. These pests preferably occur in warm and dry air conditions, particularly haunting weakened plants. The animals suck off the leaf juice and damage the affected plant in addition, so that the unsightly leaf discoloration is often accompanied by a feeble growth or a non-existent flower. In particular, spider mites are very difficult to discover due to their small size. The earliest possible treatment, however, helps to limit damage as much as possible.

For all these reasons, it makes sense to regularly mist the single-leaf with the help of a spray bottle with a fine attachment. Use decalcified water, better still soft rainwater, because the plant is very sensitive to lime. In addition, the spray water should be warm (room temperature is sufficient), so as to simulate the conditions in the rain forest best. However, spray only the leaves, not the flowers - these could otherwise turn brown. Incidentally, the substrate should always be kept slightly damp. If the plant is too dry again, the leaf tips can also turn brown.
Tips
On the other hand, brown spots or spots on the leaves of the leaves are usually an indication of overfertilization, but may also be caused by a pest infestation or a fungicidal disease.
