How do you recognize a lice infestation on the ivy?
If the leaves of ivy dry up, you should see if aphids have spread to the plant. Lice extract moisture from the leaves, turning them brown and later falling off.
The lice often stick to the underside of the leaves, look under the leaves. Sometimes small holes can be recognized.
Tips for fighting lice
In case of a strong lice infestation, take immediate action to save the ivy. Rinse the plant thoroughly with the shower head to rinse the aphids. Sometimes it makes sense to simply cut off and dispose of severely affected peaks.
Mix nettle or detergent solution. To make stinging nettle, put a few fresh stinging nettles in rainwater for a few hours and then pour the solution into a spray bottle. If there are no stinging nettles, a decoction of some washing-up liquid that is diluted with water will also help.
Spray all the tendrils of the ivy carefully. Do not forget the leaf bases. This will destroy the remaining lice and their clutches. Then you should provide the ivy with liquid fertilizer or fertilizer sticks to strengthen the plant as a whole.
