Cutting boxwood: Better with underlay
Between April and September especially boxwood cuts have to be cut regularly. This is a lot of very fine clippings, but that should always be removed for reasons of infection protection. With a pasen base you are done in no time with the tidying up.
Why do you have to clear the clippings?
Of course, you can also leave the fine shoot tips and leaves just lie down or just sweep them together with a rake or a rake and just gather roughly together. However, this is dangerous: due to the susceptibility of the boxwood for fungal diseases, clippings must always be cleared away. There are potentially pathogens and pest eggs in it that can last extremely long - and infect the otherwise healthy book over and over again. In particular, the boxwood dying and the stubborn and difficult to combat boxwood growers are a major problem, which has since fallen victim to numerous book plantings.

For this reason, it makes sense to remove potentially infectious clippings as a source of danger. To do this without much effort, place a pase under the boxwood to be cut. In trade, you can buy so-called shape-cut cloths, which have a hole in the middle and handles often at the corners. Lay them around the book, cut it and then lift the cloth up in all four corners.However, it is even cheaper, because you can make yourself such a base of different materials. Suitable examples are:
For a solitaire cut the cloth in the size of the size (rather too big than too small, so that nothing falls apart!) On one side to the middle through. In the middle, cut out a small circle into which the trunk of the boxwood is bordered. The edges of the fabric can be folded up and fixed at the corners, for example with clothespins.
How to remove the clippings too
Instead of picking up the small parts on a base and then disposing of them, you can simply vacuum them up with a vacuum - or, if the book is in the middle of a lawn, walk over it with a lawnmower. In this way you kill two birds with one stone: The lawn is mown and the clippings are also removed.
Tips
Healthy book can be wonderfully composted. For this purpose, you should chop thicker branches and twigs, mix the boxwood clippings with grass clippings or similar. Buchs rots only very slowly and therefore needs an accelerator.
