Which tree is suitable as a houseplant?
If you do not have a garden, you do not have to do without fresh green. Some small trees and bonsai can be kept on a balcony or terrace, but they are not suitable as a houseplant. However, for this you can fall back on from the tropics or Subtropen derived room trees, the feel year-round in the living room.
Why native trees are not suitable for houseplant
Whether oak, beech, larch or maple: With a little skill and the right care, these native tree species can be trained as bonsai. However, these are pure outdoor bonsai that are outside the year and not in the room. There are several reasons for this, but the most important one is the change of seasons and the associated dormancy. Native trees have adapted perfectly to this process in the course of evolution and are very sensitive when disturbed. In winter, these trees must hibernate cold and must not stay in the warm living room - this depletes the plants, leaches them out and eventually leads to their death.
Cultivate native trees in the pot
Nonetheless, you can cultivate them in a sufficiently large pot. Then, however, regular cutting measures - which also includes a root incision - and a seasonally adapted to watering and fertilizing necessary. Bear in mind that not every species of tree is cut friendly, and some trees are extremely vigorous and can grow very tall in the tub.

For the culture of the rooms you should, on the other hand, stick to the different trees that originally came from the tropical and subtropical regions of this earth and therefore do not know any change of seasons. Tips
Even some tropical trees such as the avocado or the mango can be pulled out of a seed or core with a little effort and patience. However, the adult plant should be cultivated in a conservatory if possible.
