Forget-me-not needs little care
Forget-me-not is an undemanding and easy-care plant that can be grown annual, biennial or perennial. The pretty flower does not need much care. However, it is important that the soil is always slightly damp, because drought does not tolerate forget-me-nots at all.

Forget-me-nots prefer a moist soil. In hot summer months you should therefore pour more frequently. Allow the surface of the earth to dry before reaching for the watering can. Avoid waterlogging.
When you forget about forget-me-nots in the tub, make sure that excess irrigation water can drain away. Water more often as the soil in the pot dries faster.
Forget-me-nots are prone to fungal diseases such as powdery mildew or gray mold. Always water the plants from below to prevent fungal attack.
Need Forget-me-not fertilizer?
The spring flowers may have a nutrient-rich soil. However, it is not necessary to fertilize the plants. On the contrary, fertilizer increases the risk of fungal diseases.
Do you forget to cut forget-me-nots?
Perennial forget-me-not perennials are cut in autumn to make the plant bushy.
If you want to prevent forget-me-nots from seeping in, cut off blooming inflorescences before seeds can form.
If self-sowing is desired, leave the withered flowers to stand. But you can also cut them off and shake them off in a wet area to settle new forget-me-not plants there.
Which diseases and pests can occur?
Especially young shoots are quickly the victims of aphids and more rarely spider mites. A mild infestation you can combat by soapy water or spraying with nettle stock. In case of heavy infestation you should rather remove the affected plants altogether, so that the pests can not spread further.
Fungal diseases such as gray mold and powdery mildew usually occur when the humidity is too high, for example in very humid summers. Fighting fungal diseases is very difficult. Try using diluted fresh milk to spray over the plants. But most of the time it remains only to rip out the plants and dispose of them with the household waste.
To avoid fungal attack, you should not forget forget-me-not in the morning because the humidity in the air is reduced during the day.
Are forget-me-nots hardy?
The forget-me-nots grown in the garden are descended from the native forget-me-not species and are therefore used to cold weather. Winter protection is only necessary if you have set the plants late in the fall.
Do not plant forget-me-not as early as possible in the year. The spring flowers then have enough time to prepare for the cold season.
Tips
The roots of the forget-me-not tolerate salt, for example road salt, only badly. That is why it is important that you water regularly to dilute any residues.
