The Venus flytrap likes lime-poor earth
The right soil for the Venus flytrap
Normal garden soil or potting soil from the hardware store are not suitable for the breeding of Venus fly traps. This earth is far too nutritious and not easy enough. As substrate you use special soil for carnivores. You can also mix the plant substrate yourself.
Mix soil for the Venus flytrap
Suitable are all organic materials that contain no lime and stay nice and relaxed:
The substrate should consist of two-thirds peat, to which the other materials are added. To keep the soil nice and relaxed, you can also fold in polystyrene balls.
Special carnivorous earth can be bought at the hardware store. Alternatively, you can take orchid soil for your venus flytrap. However, this should at best be slightly fertilized.
Tips
The substrate for Venus fly traps should be as loose as possible. As the peat decays over time, you need to periodically repot the plant and place it in new carnivorous soil.
