Sowing peppers - it works better
When we hear peppers, we think of green, yellow and red pods. However, this idea is only partially correct. Paprika refers to different varieties of the genus Capsicum. These include the peppers as well as chili and hot peppers. No matter which pod - Sowing paprika requires patience.

In addition, the paprika seedlings are protected from wind, weather and snail attacks. And there is still enough time for plant growth until maturity in autumn. What do you need to sow peppers?

You can use yogurt pots or pots made of peat or egg cartons. Compostable vessels are particularly useful because the young plants can be planted directly later without damaging the root ball. To fill the vessels special Aussaaterde is suitable. This is feinkrümeliger and nutrient-poorer than potting soil and activates root growth.
The substrate should be soaked, but not soaking wet. Sow the peppers in doses by placing 1 to 3 pepper seeds in each jar. Peppers are not light germs but dark germs. Therefore, cover the seed thinly with sieved soil and spray with warm water.
To ensure the necessary humid and warm climate, place the seedlings in the greenhouse or covered with foil on a south window. For a cold window sill put a heating mat under the sowing. The ideal soil temperature for germination is 25 degrees. Now briefly air the paprika seedlings daily to avoid mold growth. And then? Just wait and see ;-).
What to do when the first seedlings sprout?
The duration of germination depends on the quality and external conditions such as light, temperature and humidity. 3 to 4 weeks later, when the first cotyledon pair shows up, remove the cover. Now it is important to keep the substrate moist without waterlogging. After the last night frosts you can plant the peppers in the garden. To do so, select the optimal location with sufficient planting distance in good time.
Tips & Tricks
Sort out seedlings that are weak or malformed. They are not suitable for cultivation. Powerful young plants daily for a few hours longer to harden to set outside.
