Ornamental grasses are a popular plant for the pebble bed
Grasses, the interesting beauties in the pebble bed
Decorative grasses round off the plant spectrum in the pebble bed. They are available in a wonderful variety, which differs in color and shape of the leaves and later seed levels. They enrich the garden even in the winter, when they set glittering accents with hoarfrost and snow.
Which grasses are suitable?
Grasses have round stalks with nodular outlines. Their delicate flowers, which are almost never conspicuously colored, grow in panicles, grapes or ears. Most cultivated varieties in our gardens are robust and extremely easy to care for. However, they differ greatly in the stature height, which should already be considered in the installation of the gravel bed.
Here are some grasses that are particularly drought-tolerant and therefore fit well in the pebble bed:

The care of ornamental grasses
Almost all grasses feel well in full sun. You need a loosened ground. Waterlogging should be avoided at all costs. This makes them perfect specialists for the pebble bed.
Many commercially available ornamental grasses are hardy. Tie up higher-growing species in the cold season and protect them in rough conditions with some brushwood.
It is not cut back until spring. Make sure that you do not cut off the shoot during this care measure.
Tips
With grasses, the pebble bed can be wonderfully structured. Combine different growth directions, shapes and heights for this purpose. The distance to other plants should be at least as large as the final stature height. The giants under the grasses can be planted with small-sized plants that thrive in the semi-shade of the fronds.
